much to my surprise last october, Rick proposed and with no hesitation – i said yes!
despite the fact that i definitely didn’t see it coming, i had never really been one of those girls who dreamt of their wedding, dress, ring – any of it. that being said i was a little overwhelmed when it came to planning our engagement party, in all honesty i had no idea where to even start.
pinterest to the rescue! i honestly don’t know how i would function without it, i’m a really visual person so for me to be able to see all my ideas all pinned next to each other it helped me to narrow down what i wanted, needed and what was just plain unnecessary.
when it comes to any event i’m one of those people that just enjoys an atmosphere more than anything, i don’t tend to take notice of little details or party favours but more so the overall feel & vibe. fortunately, rick is quite similar to me and as long as our guests were fed and had a drink in their hands we were happy! so we went super minimal sticking to more of a theme, colour palette more than anything for the entire space.
to sum it up;
- fairy lights
since decorating wasn’t much of a task in the end we just focussed on a variety of food, including a grazing table for the gram and of course, drinks.
best advice i can give, is as per usual – write a list!
- meats, cheeses & bread // glynburn gourmet
amazing customer service and of course, delicious
- fresh fruit & veg // burnside fruit & veg
- dips, dried fruits & crackers // gaganis (surprise)
- invites & signage // etsy
- balloons // little big balloon co
- flowers // the beautiful sophie @ the flower nook
- marquee, tables & chairs // olympic party hire
- dress // c/meo collective
- hair // amazing amy @ the style bar
- makeup // georgina neves (who else)
we are both still incredibly overwhelmed by the love & support our friends and family have shown and we are so grateful! i’m pretty proud to say planning the engagement wasn’t stressful at all and i’m on the front foot with wedding planning too so i’m hopeful bridezilla won’t show her face
